Get to Know Them

DR BRENDAN JOSS
Brendan is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Managing Director of Hollywood Functional Rehabilitation Clinic (HFRC) in Perth. He started his career as an Exercise Physiologist to combine his love of sport and exercise with a passion for medicine. Brendan completed his Honours in Exercise Rehabilitation in 2000, joining the HFRC practice the same year. Through his desire to provide improved treatment to orthopaedic patients, Brendan completed a PhD in joint replacement rehabilitation in 2006. Following this, he travelled to Canada to complete a post-doctoral research fellowship at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario. On his return to Perth, Brendan continued his work at HFRC providing exercise-based programs to optimise physical function without aggravating pain around the affected joint. Brendan currently holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Western Australia for sessional lecturing and research. Brendan has also served 6 years as Board Director at Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and is recognised nationally as a leader in Exercise Physiology practice.

PROFESSOR CAROLINE ELLISON
Professor of Ageing and Disability, and Program Director for Bachelor of Social Science, Caroline works as an education practitioner and consultant. She possesses significant skills in research and works collaboratively with stake-holders living with disability.

MAX MARTIN - INFORM
Max Martin is an Accredited Exercise Scientist and Physiologist and experienced educator and practitioner in the musculo-skeletal rehabilitation field. When not with his beautiful family, Max can be found either riding in the Adelaide Hills or at his private practice applying corrective exercise techniques to a wide variety of clients. He is a managing Director and principal Exercise Physiologist of iNform Health and Fitness Solutions (http://informhealth.com/), which has a team of 20 across three locations in Adelaide.

Max completed an Applied Science Degree (Exercise and Sports Science) in 1998, and an Honours Degree in Human Movement in 2000. He also founded Corrective Exercise Australia Pty Ltd; and MovementScreen Pty Ltd. Max has internationally peer-reviewed publications in the areas of physiology and musculoskeletal sport sciences. He is regularly invited to lecture on Exercise Prescription and Rehabilitation to students of the University of South Australia and other tertiary educational institutions. Max currently chairs ESSA’s Exercise Science Advisory Group. He also chairs UniSA’s Exercise and Sports Science Advisory Group.

BRENDAN MOUATT
Brendan Mouatt is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist based out of Adelaide. Brendan kick-started his career in health as a certified personal trainer in 2010 whilst studying a bachelor degree in Exercise Science and Human Movement. He then chose to further his studies, completing a master’s degree of Exercise Physiology at Deakin University. Whilst going on to practice as an Exercise Physiologist, Brendan utilized his degree in education to teach physiology at Victoria and Deakin University, and now runs educational courses for a range of allied health professionals. Over the years, he has grown a specialty in spine and musculoskeletal therapy as well as persistent pain management. Brendan is currently the Director at The Biomechanics Clinical Practice in Melbourne and is completing his PhD at UniSA in the Body in Mind (BiM) Research group.

FIONA BELTON
Fiona is an Exercise Physiologist based in Adelaide and has over 30 years experience in exercise therapy. Fiona currently has multiple roles within the industry including State EP Director at Goodlife, EP advisor at ReturnToWorkSa, Lecturer at University of South Australia, Director at Inspired Healthcare, and EP at East Adelaide Healthcare. Fiona will join the conference panel in discussing the trials and tribulations of COVID.

BRUNO PAVIC
Bruno is a graduate of the University of South Australia and has a background in Exercise Physiology and Occupational Therapy. Bruno currently practices as an Occupational Therapist in his role as Manager of Technical Services at Novitatech. Bruno’s clinic offers specialised mobility and seating services to clients of all ages and he has an invested interest in using assistive technology to support and enrich the lives of people living with disability.

DIANNE LITTLECHILD
Dianne Littlechild has been employed as an exercise physiologist within the Centre for Physical Activity in Ageing, Adelaide, South Australia since 1995. Dianne has extensive experience in exercise rehabilitation for chronic conditions, but since 2007, she has been specialising in cardiac rehabilitation, with particular interest in Chronic Heart Failure. As part of her role, Dianne has been heavily involved in developing resources and
training exercise physiologists working within the cardiac field. Dianne’s current role involves the coordination and management of exercise physiology services provided within the CALHN Chronic Heart Failure Self-Management program and cardiac rehabilitation program, as well as overseeing student placements and mentoring of other exercise physiologists.

Their vision is to improve a person’s quality of life through maximising their mobility, function and independence, as well as understanding the unique aspects of each person’s condition.
